A focus on sustainability.

As a nationwide installer of solar PV, battery systems and renewable heating solutions, Sustain Homes is right at the cutting edge of the road to net zero in the nation’s housing.

Managing Director at Sustain Homes, Adam Morse has a background in renewables, insulation and insurance on the heating side and decided to partner with a large gas contractor to set up a sustainable arm for their portfolio.

The company created with a focus on sustainability from day one and is now in its third year of operation. Adam had been looking for a way to demonstrate its ‘green’ credentials that would help promote the business to new customers.

“We see our mission as delivering peace of mind for our customers whether it’s in the products we install or the service and support we provide and that means being able to show our extensive knowledge about sustainability,” he explains. “When we were introduced to Mitsubishi Electric’s carbon reduction scheme, I could see right away that it was just what we were looking for,” he adds.

With sustainability at its core, the company offers products and services that are ethically sourced, contributing to the growth of local economies and supporting the well-being of a dedicated team.

As a climate-positive organisation, the company actively contributes to environmental conservation by planting trees and investing in carbon offset funds that advance the world's most effective climate crisis solutions.

A vital first step.

Having successfully completed the process, Sustain Homes is now the first Heating Installer to achieve Accreditation as an official Mitsubishi Electric Committed Carbon Reduction Partner (CCRP).

The scheme is designed to support customers in reducing their own carbon emissions and help them to secure new business by differentiating themselves from competitors.

“The interest in finding renewable and sustainable ways of heating our homes and businesses has grown significantly and customers are looking for sustainable suppliers that can clearly demonstrate they know what they are talking about,” comments Oliver Collins, Channel Marketing Manager for Contractors at Mitsubishi Electric.

The starting point in the accreditation process is measuring your own carbon footprint and Mitsubishi Electric has partnered with Climate Partner to offer corporate carbon footprint calculations to Partners.

This is an essential first step in understanding the source of your CO2 emissions across your business, identifying opportunities for reductions, and giving you the opportunity to offset the carbon you have produced.

Successful applicants also develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to devise effective carbon reduction strategies, enabling them to stand out within an increasingly sustainability-conscious marketplace.

“From the vehicles we drive through to how we tender for business, the road to net zero is already having an impact on every area of our business,” adds Adam Morse. “A big part of this challenge is navigating the white noise around sustainability, and focusing on what we can, and need to deliver now to prepare for the future.”

CCRP and beyond.

The accreditation is an ideal way for installers to showcase their commitment and gain trust with customers. It also comes with exclusive marketing support from Mitsubishi Electric and, with ongoing learning from the Supply Chain Sustainability School, Partners can increase the knowledge and understanding they can offer their customers.

“We were set up as a lean company to start with so finding improvements means thinking differently and we’ve moved to sourcing things more locally, which is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint,” adds Adam. “You’ll be surprised how much your business is already doing once you actually start looking at it”.

Sustain Homes is also in the final stages of achieving B Corporations (or B Corp) Certification and found the carbon measuring part of the CCRP process gave them a great baseline for B Corp accreditation, which is awarded to companies that are verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

“It’s all about being able to show how much we care about the entire service we provide and giving a clear demonstration of our commitment to our customers,” ends Adam.
