Bristol visit shows off innovation

We recently worked with a customer to host their local MP when Claire Hazelgrove, Member of Parliament for Filton and Bradley Stoke, visited the Brabazon project just outside Bristol.

Brabazon, which is billed as the most exciting new city district in the South-West, is being built by YTL Developments and we joined them when the MP visited to see firsthand the installation of our innovative Ecodan heat pumps.

The visit highlighted YTL Developments commitment to building sustainable, energy-efficient new homes in partnership with Mitsubishi Electric. Reducing emissions from properties is a key pillar to reaching the government’s target of net-zero by 2050.

During the visit, Claire Hazelgrove was given a tour of Brabazon, the new neighbourhood for Bristol being built on the historic former Filton Airfield.

Sustainable heating

YTL Developments is installing Ecodan heat pumps, a low-carbon heating solution, at The Heritage District: the latest collection of new two, three and four-bedroom homes at Brabazon.

Ecodan heat pumps are advanced systems that provide an energy-efficient alternative to traditional heating methods. By installing heat pumps, homeowners can reduce both carbon emissions and their household energy use.

Sustainability is at the heart of the vision for Brabazon. Alongside the Ecodan heat pumps, every new home at The Heritage District is rated ‘A’ on their predicted Energy Performance Certificates thanks to solar panels, excellent insulation and a network of garden streets and squares that are designed to boost biodiversity.

Pioneering neighbourhood

Filton Airfield is steeped in history. Home to the Hurricane aircraft in WW2. Birthplace of Concorde and supersonic travel.

Now a bold new vision will see Filton Airfield transformed into Brabazon, a thriving new neighbourhood for Bristol and a place that changes everything.

For more information, please visit www.brabazon.co.uk

The 380 acres of the Airfield will become the most exciting new city district in the South West. The sales brochures promise that you’ll be able to wander around independent stores, discover new restaurants or relax in leafy parks and open public squares.

Inspired by a revolutionary airplane that became an icon of engineering, the new homes and creative workplaces at Brabazon will be a new home for Bristol’s next generation of pioneers. A place for enjoyment and entertainment. A centre of learning and a launchpad for business. A hub for industry and invention, with the new 19,000-capacity YTL Arena complex as its beating social heart.

Over £100 million is being invested to improve local infrastructure: A new railway station will connect Brabazon to Bristol Temple Meads in less than 15 minutes and a dedicated metrobus will run straight to the city centre. The new neighbourhood will also be criss-crossed by walking routes and cycle paths.

A sustainable future

In addition to commenting on how quiet the Ecodan heat pumps were, Claire Hazelgrove MP praised the award winning heat pumps which have been recognised for their ability to deliver low-energy heating and hot water solutions and contribute to a greener future.

By utilising free, renewable energy from the air, these systems reduce reliance on fossil fuels and help lower household energy consumption.

“Sustainability is at the heart of our vision for Brabazon,” explained Jon McDiarmid, Director at YTL Developments “From promoting active lifestyles to adopting sustainable technologies, our new homes are designed to complement rather than conflict with nature.

“With Ecodan heat pumps, solar panels, energy-efficient appliances and electric car charging all included as standard, we aim to do our bit for the planet, as well as helping to lower bills for residents.”

Claire Hazelgrove MP’s visit underscores the importance of collaboration between the government, private companies like YTL Developments, and technology leaders like Mitsubishi Electric to drive forward the transition to greener, more sustainable living.
